About.

During his 30-year career, Mark Elvin has developed extensive skills across a wide range of areas from understanding and improving business practices to developing and delivering tailored training programs and effective facilitation. ​

Education & qualifications.

Mark established his own consultancy in 2022, applying his expertise to projects requiring effective facilitation, specialist training and business problem-solving and improvement.

Previously, he worked with the AFP for 31 years, gaining extensive experience and skills in the following areas:
  • Investigation standards and practice – developing initiatives such as practice standards, investigations manual and technical investigations management solution (as Senior User).
  • Investigation specialist training – developing and delivering programs against the priorities set by the AFP Board of Studies, including a Criminal Investigation Workshop and 3-stage Detective Training Program. 
  • Advice, counter terrorism and national security – providing strategic and policy advice, briefing and supporting multi-agency and cross-government forums.
  • Recruit training – responsible for training of 120 recruits for national operations over a 14-month period, including program content and course management. 
  • Counter terrorism – investigating terrorism offences against Australia and overseas. 
  • Territory investigations – investigating significant drug, fraud and major crimes, including homicide.  
  • Criminal investigations – investigating offences such as armed robbery, serious assault, minor fraud, burglary and major theft.
  • General duties – patrol work, investigating offences, collecting evidence, conducting interviews, submitting briefs, giving evidence
    ​in court.
